Zaostrog is one of Dalmatia's the popular vacation destinations, situated below the monumental cliffs of Mount Viter,
between Drvenik and Podaca
Makarska riviera. Up until recently the Franciscan monastery and just a couple of houses
were all that were located on the coast, most of what we find in Zaostrog now has been built following 1962, when
residents of the old village on the hillside started to move down to the coast.
With its length of 1 km the beach in Zaostrog is one of the longest ones in Dalmatia and Croatia, yet
and Makarska from this area are also in the same league.
Truth to be told, a big enough beach is a necessity in Zaostrog, as there are guests of two campsites and a children's
resort who share the coast with others who spend their vacations here. As the amenities offered by Zaostrog are many,
your can stay in the village without the need to drive: groceries, bakery, restaurants and bars are all locally available.
és bárt és egyéb létesítményeket.
Besides the still working, five centuries old Franciscan monastery with its special collections, Zaostrog is also known
in the popular culture of ex-Yugoslavia. According to the song Ballad of Pišonja and Žuga by the legendary band
Zabranjeno Pušenje, it was the "night life" of the campsite in Zaostrog that appealed to the two Sarajevo
chaps that much that they stole a bus from the House of the Elderly so that they could get to Zaostrog...
